Research of Anonymity Level by the Example of VKontakte Social Network

Abstract

The paper analyzes levels of anonymity and self-revelation of users of VKontakte social network. Results of the content analysis of 118 personal pages are presented to define how often certain categories of information in profile are concealed/revealed. The level of self-revelation is defined on the basis of these data, influence of age and gender on the level is also examined. The obtained data are compared with the results of foreign research of the similar social network Facebook.
