The region food security: innovative approaches to assessing

Abstract

The main goal of the article was to develop an innovative method for determining the level of food security in the region, taking into account the qualitative characteristics of food products in a particular area. The article considers the criteria for assessing food security, which should be considered at three levels: world, state and regional. The necessity of harmonizing the concepts of «food security» and «healthy nutrition», which determines the innovativeness of the approach to assessing food security, is grounded. The opportunity that favorably affects the life expectancy and health of the population, conditioned by the onsumption by local residents of a particular area of local food products, whose chemical structure corresponds most closely to the enzyme systems of the human body, is argued. The proposed methodology for assessing the level of food security is tested on the example of the Volgograd region and can find application in other regions of Russia.
