ON SOCIAL AND INDIVIDUAL ENVY: BACKGROUND AND CONSEQUENCES

The  article considers one  of the  most  intense human passions – envy, that,  on one  hand, differs  from  healthy feeling  of rivalry  and  competition, and,  on the  other hand, in the  envi- ronment of unfair social order, leads  to the  loss of adequate self-identification, confidence in world  and resentment.

Key words: envy, blessing, virtue, social justice, resentment, confidence, social capital.
