REGIONAL MINIMUM SALARY IN RUSSIA: ECONOMETRIC ANALYSIS

Abstract

Currently regional minimum salary  is the  only  way  of labour market regulation on regional  level in Russia. However,  procedure and effects of regional  minimum  salary determination are not examined enough. We prepared a data base for all regional minimums, effective in Russia in 2007–2012. On the basis of econometric analysis we revealed  main factors defining minimum wage rate in the region. Gross regional product  per capita, profit of organizations, price differences,  demographic, climatic and political  factors  should  be noted as the most significant factors.
